Position Summary

The Automotive Technician diagnoses, repairs, and maintains customer and dealership vehicles. This position is responsible for completing quality work, following manufacturer specifications and safety procedures, and accurately documenting all services performed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform vehicle maintenance and repairs as outlined on repair orders.

• Diagnose mechanical and electrical concerns using diagnostic equipment, technical resources, and appropriate testing procedures.

• Inspect and service vehicle systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, suspension, electrical, and heating and air conditioning.

• Complete vehicle inspections and document findings, recommended repairs, and safety concerns.

• Communicate additional repair needs and changes in completion time to the Service Advisor or Service Manager.

• Obtain required authorization before performing additional work.

• Accurately document diagnostic findings, repairs completed, and parts used.

• Road-test vehicles when necessary to identify concerns and verify repairs.

• Follow manufacturer specifications, warranty requirements, and dealership procedures.

• Properly use and maintain tools, equipment, and dealership property.

• Keep the work area clean, organized, and free of safety hazards.

• Follow procedures for handling and disposing of automotive fluids and hazardous materials.

• Complete required training and maintain applicable certifications.

• Accurately record all time worked and follow dealership attendance and timekeeping procedures.

• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Previous automotive maintenance and repair experience.

• Knowledge of vehicle systems, diagnostic procedures, and repair methods.

• Ability to read and follow repair manuals, technical instructions, and wiring diagrams.

• Ability to safely operate diagnostic equipment, vehicle lifts, and hand and power tools.

• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and communication skills.

• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company driving requirements.

• ASE certifications or manufacturer training preferred.

Position Summary

The Automotive Lube Technician performs routine vehicle maintenance and basic inspections on customer and dealership vehicles. This position is responsible for completing quality work, following manufacturer specifications and safety procedures, and accurately documenting services performed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform oil and filter changes using the correct oil type, quantity, and filter for each vehicle.

• Inspect and check fluid levels, including coolant, brake fluid, transmission fluid, and windshield washer fluid, as applicable.

• Inspect and replace engine air filters, cabin air filters, and windshield wiper blades.

• Check tire pressure and condition and perform tire rotations.

• Perform basic vehicle inspections and report leaks, worn components, and other concerns to the Service Advisor or Service Manager.

• Perform battery testing and basic battery services as assigned.

• Follow repair orders and obtain required authorization before performing additional work.

• Verify fluid levels, drain plug and filter installation, tire pressure, and other completed work before returning vehicles.

• Reset maintenance reminders as appropriate.

• Accurately document services performed and inspection findings on repair orders.

• Safely operate vehicle lifts, tools, and shop equipment.

• Protect customer vehicles and keep them clean while performing service.

• Maintain a clean, organized work area and promptly address spills and safety hazards.

• Follow procedures for handling and disposing of used oil, filters, and other automotive materials.

• Wear required uniforms and personal protective equipment.

• Complete required training and follow dealership safety procedures.

• Accurately record all time worked and follow attendance and timekeeping procedures.

• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of automotive maintenance and vehicle systems.

• Previous lube technician or automotive service experience preferred.

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and manufacturer service procedures.

Compensation & Pay Scale
